Usage

Lap photoinitiator, also known as Irgacure LAP, is a cell compatible, water soluble, type I photoinitiator. It is mainly used for the polymerization of hydrogels or other polymer materials, especially for photopolymerization of polyethylene glycol-diacrylate. It is more suitable for biological applications than iragacure 2959 due to its increased water solubility, increased polymerization rate at 365 nm light, and photopolymerization at absorbance in the visible wavelength range of 400 nm. Improved polymerization kinetics enable cell encapsulation at lower initiator concentrations and longer wavelengths of light, which has been shown to reduce the toxicity of the initiator and increase cell viability.

Lap photoinitiator is mainly used as a blue light initiator in 3D bioprinting. Under the action of blue light, it rapidly initiates the curing of photosensitive hydrogel materials (GelMA and other bio-inks). Compared to UV photoinitiators, blue light has less damage to cells, so it is more suitable for the curing of cell-containing hydrogels. In recent years, blue light curing has been widely used in biological 3D printing containing cells.

Quality control test

Each batch of lap photoinitiator was confirmed by H NMR, HPLC and cytology to confirm its chemical structure, purity (>99.8%) and no cytotoxicity; and it can rapidly cure biophotosensitive materials under blue light.

Instructions

Under sterile conditions, a 0.5% lap photoinitiator solution was prepared from the cell culture medium, filtered (0.22 μm), mixed with the cells and the photosensitive biohydrogel, and placed in a cartridge of a Blu-ray bio 3D printer, and printed.
