Chlorhexidine acetate, also known as Hibitane diacetate, Chlorhexidine diacetate. It is white crystalline powder at room temperature, odorless and bitter. Soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in water, solubility in water is 1.9, the aqueous solution is acidic reaction.

Mechanism

Chlorhexidine acetate is a cationic surfactant of the biguanide type, which has a strong broad-spectrum bacteriostatic, bactericidal effect and low toxicity. Its main mechanism of action is to change the permeability of the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane so that the contents of the cell leak out to play a fast Kill Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, bacterial spores, fungi and viruses. Chlorhexidine acetate also has a strong antibacterial effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Method of use and dosage

Chlorhexidine acetate is mainly used as a disinfectant in medicine. In application, chlorhexidine acetate can generally be formulated into an aqueous solution or an alcohol solution, and the sterilization and disinfection effect can be achieved after contacting the treated object with the solution for several minutes. The concentration of the aqueous solution (distilled water or deionized water) or alcohol solution can generally be adjusted to 0.015% to 0.15%. According to different application purposes, it can be formulated into other concentration solutions or made into other dosage forms. Chlorhexidine acetate can also be used for gargle and anti-inflammatory, with a dosage of 0.02% aqueous solution. Chlorhexidine acetate is also used as a sterilizing ingredient in disinfectants, as well as an active ingredient in the disinfection and preservation of wet paper towels and wet towels, and can also be used in the disinfection of rooms and furniture.

Precautions

1. Chlorhexidine acetate is not compatible with soap, potassium iodide and other anionic surfactants.

2. Chlorhexidine acetate at a concentration of 0.05% is incompatible with borax, bicarbonate, carbonate, oxide, citrate, phosphate and sulfate, because it can form salts with low solubility and precipitate after 24 hours. A high concentration of chlorhexidine acetate solution can irritate mucous membranes, occasionally skin allergies.
