Description
Brominated polystyrene, also known as Flame retardant BPS, is a brominated product of Polystyrene, which is an additive type polymer brominated flame retardant. Brominated polystyrene has the advantages of high bromine content, low toxicity, excellent heat resistance and impact resistance, no frosting and no migration. Brominated polystyrene does not release carcinogens such as dioxins when burned, and is a substitute for polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDPO) flame retardants. Brominated polystyrene has excellent thermal stability and electrical properties, and is especially suitable for engineering plastics applications, such as polyester (PET, PBT, PCT) and polyamide (nylon). It is ideal for high temperature applications such as engineering plastics. Brominated polystyrene has outstanding thermal stability. It is an ideal choice for a variety of high temperature applications such as engineering plastics. Because of this thermal stability, it is often used where other flame retardants cannot withstand it. Because of its polymer structure, the broken polystyrene will not precipitate in all applications. Its excellent electrical properties make it suitable for a variety of demanding engineering plastic applications.
