What is Irgacure 250?

IRGACURE 250 is a versatile cationic UV photoinitiator used to initiate epoxy or propylene oxide based photocuring systems.

IRGACURE 250 is effective in curing cationic coatings and inks such as printing inks, white paints, adhesives and more. Particularly suitable for curing thick film systems and deep color systems.

IRGACURE 250 is a propylene carbonate solution with a 75% active ingredient content.

Usage

IRGACURE 250 has been tested and used alone or in combination with a suitable photosensitizer such as thiazolone for varnishes on UV-curable inks, adhesives, paper, metal and plastic surfaces.

When used in combination with an α-hydroxyketone initiator, excellent surface curing effects and speed can be obtained.

IRGACURE 250 has a great application in the field of graphic art imaging and adhesives.

In dark paints and inks (such as rutile, titanium dioxide, colored pigments, etc.), IRGACURE 250 requires only a very small concentration to exhibit excellent curing.

It exhibits only minimal yellowing under a large amount of ultraviolet radiation. In dark systems, IRGACURE 250 needs to be used in combination with a photosensitizer.

Excellent matting ability allows IRGACURE 250 to be used in the curing of thick film systems when used with suitable photosensitizers.

Recommended dosage:

  1. white paint 1.5 - 3%
  2. flexo ink 1.5 - 4%
  3. screen printing ink 1.5 -3%
  4. overprint varnish 1 - 1.5%

Use with 0.5-0.7% photosensitizer (eg DAROCUR ITX)
